Sales Content in Site Structure

Navigation:

  • Advertorial content is surfaced in the "Home page Sponsored content widget" and typically  not exposed in primary navigation bar. Email Blasts, SOV on site, audience extension campaigns & broadcast components bring drive traffic to the Advertorial section.
  • Sales content that is not Advertorial in nature is stored in sub navigation typically under "Features", "SpotLight" or other top level sections

Sponsored section of Site Tree

  • All sales content is housed in the "Sponsored" section of the station site tree

Authoring Sales Content

Who does What

WebOps will build the Sales content pages, all correspondence will be kept in the WebOps ticket request.

The Station is responsible for adding content to their station site including authoring / publishing story packages, videos, image galleries, and then targeting those content items to the correct section that WebOps would set up per a request. This includes Sales content.

As bandwidth allows, WebOps at their discretion can offer you help to stage content.

  • One exception would be where the Advertorial Team is engaged to help write and help produce the content for the advertiser / station. Stations can opt to publish / maintain an Advertorial section if they so choose. Article content for any Advertorial or from an Advertiser is considered property of Sinclair Broadcast Group as appearing on Sinclair sites, and is therefore under the same scrutiny as any other content appearing on our sites, for example - subject to editorial review.

Content

  • All Sponsored content which includes story packages, galleries, and or videos need to have the "Sponsored" toggle in StoryLine set to on. This creates a label on the content for legal purposes to let our audiences know that the content is coming from an Advertiser.
  • Any content with the Sponsored toggle on will appear in the Sponsored Content widget on the homepage
  • Advertorial sections and stories can be syndicated just like other news content
  • All sales content needs to be stored in the "Sponsored" section of a stations site tree
  • ByLines for Sales stories is either the "Advertiser Name" or "Sinclair Digital"Right rail links are custom as L3, links are external URLs to a clients website, with a default background color of #000.
  • Right rail link copy should be short, no longer than 25 characters.
  • Title for the Advertorial or Sales Section or Sales page character limit is 30 charaters
  • Best image size to use for story hero images is a high resolution 1972px x 1110px @ 144ppi image. This size will scale nicely for teaser images as well as large hero images. We recommend using stock photography.

FALL 2016 Mandate - NO STATION SHOW GRAPHICS OR ADVERTISER LOGOS ALLOWED IN NEWS CONTENT TEASER IMAGES.  All Sales specific Teaser Images for "out of the box" templates need to be PHOTOGRAPHIC, graphics if used must not repeat the title of the section, and under no circumstances can the advertisers name be present in the image. Station ID graphics, or show graphics are not necessary as the page would be identified in the page title. Advertisers are better supported using Display banners and other engaging ad inventory. Check with your RSM for further ideas to support campaigns.

  • Recomended byline for Articles, Galleries, and or Videos, and no author speciffically needs to be "Advertiser name" or by default “Sinclair Digital"
Sponsored Content Widget appears on the home page with fresh Sponsored stories

The Sponsored Content widget which appears on the Homepage of sites is located in the right rail, about 3/4 down the page. There are left and right arrows on the widget that users can use to cycle through interesting content. Fresh stories appear in position 1 and 2 in the widget. The fresher the story, the more likely it is to appear in the viewable area, this is designed to be an incentive to post new articles often. Users can cycle through the 12 stories that are held by the widget by clicking on the right and left arrows in the widget. Note, we are currently re-designing the look of the widget to improve its discoverability.

When a user clicks on an article in the widget they are taken directly to that section, showing true user intent.

Note: Sponsored Content Widget can also surface syndicated stories from other sites (for example Huntsman Advertiser syndicates to 60+ sites).
