Article 14: Choose any frame from an video as the thumbnail image, teaser image or hero image

Description:

When creating a news article, the Stop-Image feature allows you select any frame from an embedded video as the Hero or teaser of that article.  You also have the ability to choose any frame from the video as the video’s thumbnail image.

Choose Article Hero and Teaser:

  • Create a new story or open an existing story
  • Go to the Media tab and attach a video to the story
  • Click on the embedded video under the Media tab to open the video editing screen:

  • There are 2 ways to capture a stop-image:
    • While the video is playing, click on the “Capture as Thumbnail” button to capture the desired frame.
    • While the video is playing, pause the video at the desired frame, then click on the “Capture as Thumbnail” to capture that particular frame as the stop-image.

  • Once the Stop-Image is captured, StoryLine will return to the Media tab with the newly captured image displayed as new image assets.  You can now use these images as Hero or Teaser of the article.

Choose a video thumbnail:

  • In the Story Editor, insert the video into the news article by clicking on the “insert” button, then choose the video icon.
  • Once you have done so, the video and the stop-image you have captured will appear in the window:
  • Select the video and the stop-image you want and click on “done”.
