Article 5: How to stream a Live Event to Facebook

Step 1: Select livestreams from the left navigation menu.

Step 2: Select the property you would like to stream to Facebook Live.

Step 3: Select Event Stream.

NOTE: Default selection is Standard Streams.

Step 4: Log into Facebook.

If you haven't already, please ensure you are logged out of Facebook in all other browsers. Proceed to log into Facebook through StoryLine using the account tied to your Station's Facebook page.

TIP: If you experience issues logging into Facebook, try refreshing the StoryLine page.

Once successfully logged in, the red Log in to Facebook button will change to a gray Log out of Facebook button.

Step 5: Enter required Title & Description fields.

NOTE: Title and Description fields are required for posting and each have a maximum input of 255 characters.

Step 6: Start Facebook Stream by toggling the button ON.

Step 7: To view your stream live on Facebook, open a Chrome Incognito window to view your station's Facebook page. This ensures that there are no conflicts with the cookies associated with your Facebook logins. Failure to do so may end your Facebook stream.

NOTE: If desired, you can go to your station's Facebook page to edit the post.

NOTE: To open a Chrome Incognito window, click the vertical ellipses in the upper right of your Chrome browser and select 'New Incognito Window.'

The Title is used on Facebook's 'Videos' section and full screen video view.

The Description is used on Facebook's page post, full screen video view, notifications and push notifications (for followers who have opted-in to receive them).
