Moderation

Moderation on all sites is performed by a vendor

Moderation is covered by a vendor that uses a combination of 24/7 humans backed up with AI tools. Station staff are not expected to moderate comment sections. That said, to empower you to control the content on your site moderation permissions can be granted to any producer.

Widget Behavior

  • Comments can be submitted on a story for 6 days after initial publish.
  • After that any comments will still be viewable but no new comments will be accepted.
  • Users must have an account registered on the station website to post comments.
  • Any user can report comments they see as problematic. If there are enough reports on a comment it will be hidden from the general public until it is passed or failed by human moderators.
  • The Commenting Widget will not show if ad blockers are in use.

User Civility

Each user is assigned a civility score. This score is based on user behavior. If a users civility score drops their comments will need to be approved before they are seen by other the general public, if their score drops low enough none of their posts will be seen by the general public. This method of allowing user to post comments that show up for them and not for the general public is called “Shadow Banning” the idea is that users that are shadow banned are less likely to try and circumvent the punishment.
