Article 3: Creating an alert from within a story package

Step 1: On the left side of the Home page, click the "New Story" shortcut. Alternatively, at the top of the Stories page, click the "+ New Story" button.

Step 2: By default, the "Alerts" link is greyed out until the package has the required fields and has been saved.

Step 3: Click on the "Alerts" link will expand the alert authoring screen slide out.

NOTE: The package is already added as the Primary Link.

Step 4: Fill out other necessary fields.

NOTE: For alerts, the required fields are Headline & Target.

Step 5: In the bottom right, click "Save Alert" button.

Step 6: View green "Alert saved" indicator at the top of the screen. In addition, observe the alert messaging for a pending general alert.

Step 7: In the bottom right of the panel, publish the whole Story package with the pending alert.

NOTE: Publishing a package with an alert attached will publish both at the same time, unless otherwise specified by the alert scheduling.

Step 8: View alert on website.

Step 9: Clicking the alert headline or picture will navigate users to the story (this is the primary link).
