Article 3: Setting Teaser Placement

Step 1: New stories are defaulted to Teaser Placement of '1' High

This means the story will appear at the top of the target Section's teaser list.

Basics of Placements & Priorities

Stories have a natural design of decaying when they get older, so you wont have precise control of what exact position on the page your story will show up in unless you override that within the properties teaser placement panel.

Step 2: Observe the story at the top of the section

Step 3: If the story was originally published at Teaser Placement position 2, then the story would show up second in the Section teaser list

Step 4: Observe the story in position 2

Basics of Homepage Top Teaser placement

When setting a story to 'promote to lead' it will push the story to the top of the homepage hero teaser list when set at 1. If you set the 'promote to lead' to 2, 3, 4, etc. It will show up within the placement seen below. If you set it to 1 and someone publishes a story right after you with the same 'promote to lead' setting of 1 yours will bump down to position 2 because it is an older story.
