Article 2: Basic stream controls

There are two types of streams managed via Storyline, and they are your Main (Live News) and Event (Live Event).  For the FNR broadcast, you will need to route the feed into the DVEO #2 Event input, and then turn on the event via live stream control. When the event is complete, please turn the event off.

STORYLINE STREAMS INTERFACE:

Starting off

Main - KOMO

This is your live news (Stream #1), and it can either be managed by GPI Trigger (automated), OR by one of the two actions:

  • Override Capture – This mode starts encoding and ignores all GPI trigger signals.  This option is used for breaking weather or news that you want to provide without the triggering via Master Control.
  • Once your coverage is complete, you must toggle Override Capture off. If left off, the encoder will capture continuously until it is canceled, or power cycled. Leaving override on will override GPI triggers for scheduled programming causing no newscasts to be captured in StorLine.

Blackout

  • Blackout Capture – This mode stops encoding and ignores all GPI signals.  This is used when something is being distributed via live news that should not be online, like over-the-air programming.
  • Once the problem has been resolved, you must toggle Blackout Capture off. If left on, the encoder will continue to ignore GPI signals until it is canceled, or power cycled and no scheduled broadcasts will capture in StoryLine.

Event - KOMO_EVENT

This is your live event (Stream #2), and it is manually managed by toggling off/on.

  • Toggle On – this will start the encoding for your stream #2
  • Toggle Off  – this will stop the encoding for your stream #2
