Article 7: Add/Edit and Crop an Image Using the Media Library

This article covers how to add, edit, and crop an image in the Media Library.

If you have an image that was added using the "upload" feature for the teaser/ hero image,  it will now reside in the media library.

Alternatively, you could add it to the media library first and then use the "browse" feature to set it on the teaser/ hero image.

A producer can upload multiple images at the same time to the Media Library.

Step 1: To upload media, click on the media section from the nav menu, and click on the "Add Media" card.

Note: There is no limit to the number of images that can be uploaded.  However, browsers typically have a limitation on the size of a file being uploaded.

Images should be at least 72dpi at a width of 1920px StoryLine will handle creating all of the other sizes.

Step 2: Click the "+ new media" button. You are presented with a popup window of your computer's files. Select the file you want to add and click the "Open" button.

Step 3: The media you added along with other media will be displayed. To select an image, click it.

Step 4: You can now edit the Title, Caption, and Alt Text meta-data.

Note: The values entered in these fields can be used to find your image when you are browsing the library.

Step 5: Click and drag the bounding boxes on the edge of the image to re-size it. View the results in the aspect ratios below.

Three aspect ratios are 16:9. 36:25, and 1:1

The bigger the image and the higher the resolution of that image the better it will look within every aspect ratio.

Make sure your image is above 986px by 555px for optimal quality. Storyline will then resize the image to the appropriate aspect ratios for your teaser and thumbnail images.

If your image becomes stretched or is pixelated you know that the image itself is not large enough.

Note: Images should be at least 72dpi at a width of 1920px StoryLine will handle creating all of the other aspects.

Step 6: You can refocus the image area by using the bounding boxes.

Hotkeys are available once crop area is selected:

Arrow keys are used to move the image one pixel at a time

Shift + Arrow keys are used to move the image by 10 pixels at a time.

Step 7: Once you modify the image and click "save changes" the updated image is displayed in the library.
