Article 11: Clip Live Video and Add to Show

In this article, we will show you how to create a video clip from a broadcast and attach it to a show.

There are two types of clips:

  • Instant clip:  The entire broadcast video becomes a clipped VOD asset.
  • Trimmed clip: A trimmed start-end time creates a custom time sliced VOD asset.

In this article, we will show how to do an instant clip so that it can be made available to the Media Library and then attached to a show.

Note: Live broadcasts can be clipped immediately after they start streaming.

Step 1: On the home page, click media to go to the Media Library.

Step 2: Filter on "broadcast" and a drop down will appear.

Step 3: Select "Tennis 1" from the list of broadcasts.

These broadcasts are available for clipping almost immediately when they start streaming so you can clip a broadcast as it is still being streamed.  Broadcasts are available in StoryLine for only  2 weeks but once you clip them, they remain in the Media Library forever.

Step 4: Select the live broadcast you want to clip

Step 5: To play the clip, click the play button or press the "SPACE" bar to start or stop the play.

Step 6: Replace the default clip name with a meaningful name.

The name that you give the clip will be used for finding it in the Media Library.

Once you click on the "clip" button, it will begin processing.  You do not need to wait on this screen for the clip to finish processing.  It will show in the Media Library when it is done.

Step 7: Click on the "instant clip" button to create a video clip of the entire broadcast.

The done button will remain grey until a clip is started.

Step 8: Clicking "instant clip" generates a message letting you know the entire broadcast will be clipped.

Step 9: Press the "done" button to exit back to the Media Library.

Step 10: When processing is done, the video appears in the Media Library.

Note:  When you click  "done" and go to the Media Library, the clipping may be processing in the background and it will appear soon.

Step 11: You can now create an episode from this video clip and include it on a Show Package.

For more information on how to create an episode using the browse Media Library feature, see Chapter 20, Article 4: Add or Manage Episodes on a Show Package.

Step 12: The video is now attached to an episode on a show package.
