Article 12: Preview and Teaser Placement

This article explains how to edit a teaser, change the teaser placement in the lists, and add a teaser to the channel program line-up. There are no restrictions on the type of teaser, so you can place an episode, a show, or a season in the list.

From the "preview and teaser placement" page of a property section in StoryLine, you can preview the published teasers and add/edit teasers.

On the preview screen there are 4 carousels containing:

  1. Featured content - shown in the top carousel, it displays teaser images from the show, episode, or season. The images cycle through the "Featured" teaser list continuously. There is a "dot" progress indicator across the bottom of the carousel to indicate a teaser position in the list.
  2. Watch by channel content - shown across the second carousel shows all channels in the EPG that are not hidden.
  3. On Demand content - shown across the third carousel that customers can request to view anytime.
  4. Free content - shown across the bottom carousel that is available free for customers to view anytime.

To move through the teasers in the carousels:

  • For Featured content -- press either arrow to the right or left, and teasers move 1 item forward or backward.
  • For items 2, 3, and 4 press either arrow on the right or left side and teasers move across the screen by 5 items forward or backward. If there are less than 5 items left in the list, pressing the arrow will move forward or backward only that number.

Step 1: To find teasers, click "properties" on the home screen.

Step 2: In "PROPERTIES" click a channel to select it.

Step 3: To go to the teaser management screen, click "..." and then "preview & teaser placement".

In the channel SITE TREE you'll see the property's taxonomy.  Each node represents a section or target for content to be published.

Currently, teasers are viewed and updated only on the "Home" page.  Click "..." on the "Home" node, then click "preview & teaser placement" to access the preview screen.  The preview shows what the "Home" page currently looks like to the audience.

Step 4: Preview the home page and then to edit a teaser list, click the "edit teaser lists" icon.

On the preview screen, you can preview your content for the desktop view.  Click the "edit teaser lists" to make changes to the order of the teasers, come back to this preview screen to view the changes, and then click the "update" button to publish the teaser edits to the audience.

For a complete description of how to edit a teaser, please see Article 13: Edit Teaser.

IMPORTANT: Only one person at a time can make changes.  If you are making changes and have not clicked  the "update" button yet and another person in the meantime publishes teaser changes, you will overwrite their changes when you do make your changes.  A message should appear warning you this will occur.  It is recommended that you refresh your screen and then reapply your changes.

Step 5: On the Teaser Placement screen, you can add a teaser, change the order of teasers in the list, and edit teaser content.

Here you can add a teaser by clicking "+ " at the top of any list and you are given a "teaser placement" screen to fill out.

You can also select an existing teaser, change its placement in the lists, and update its information.

When you have the teaser content set, click the ">hide" link to preview your content.

Teasers cannot be moved from one carousel to another.

IMPORTANT:

  • There are 5 + 1 teasers for the "Featured" carousel.  The first one displays in the first carousel with an auto play. (These default to the show package hero image.)
  • There are 9 teasers for the "On Demand" carousel.
  • "Watch By Channel" shows as many as are available to watch.
  • There are 9 teasers for the "Free" carousel.

Note: "Featured" is shown in the top carousel, "Watch By Channel" is shown in the second carousel, "On Demand" is shown in the third carousel, and "Free" is in the bottom carousel of the home page.

"Watch By Channel" cannot be changed; it is there for information only.

Autoplay Sources for the Featured Content:

  1. Unauthenticated content: Source is a promo video
  2. Authenticated content: Source is Tennis Channel stream
  3. Subscribed but not MVPD authenticated content: Source is Tennis Channel Plus stream

Step 6: Change the position of a teaser by clicking the "grabber bar", and dragging the teaser to another location.

Note: the order number of the teaser changes to reflect its position in the list.

You cannot move a teaser from one carousel to another. You can only change the teaser position in its original carousel.

In this example, the Green Tennis Balls Part 2  was moved up from number 2 to number 1.

Step 7: To add a teaser to the list, click "+".

The action to add a teaser will take you to a universal add/edit screen called "Edit Teaser".

The add and edit teaser functions both use the same screen to add and edit teasers.

To see more information about adding/ editing teasers, please see Article 13: Edit Teaser.

On the "Select Content" screen you can FILTER by "sections", "shows", "seasons", or "episodes".  NOTE: Sections are currently not implemented - DO NOT choose this type.

Step 10: When you have finished adding all the teaser information, click "save".

When adding a teaser link, the defaulted data for that content is pre-populated into the fields.  This defaulted data can be overridden by typing in new text or replacing the teaser image.

The teaser placement screen shows the updated teaser in the On Demand list with the updated "title" and "teaser image".

Step 12: The preview screen shows the added teaser as it would appear on the home page. Click "update" to publish these new teasers to the audience.

The preview screen gives you an opportunity to view your additions before actually publishing them.  If the additions look good, click the "update" button, if not, click "edit teaser lists" to make changes.=
